We are preparing to let our loved ones go. It’s impossible to predict if we are headed to a long-term care facility. It’s hard to tell how long we’ll have with them once the disease starts. It’s even hard to guess where and when the next phase will take us. As I started my journey […]
It’s sad but clear
Burt’s journey was only five years from diagnosis until his death. This was a very long-short time. I’ve met many a caregiver whose care went on ten, eleven years.

The extra time with a loved one is a blessing but it also makes life for the carer that much harder. I won’t pretend that the brevity of Burt’s illness did not reduce my burdens.
It had been a difficult five years, ones for which I was enormously grateful. I miss him.
LBD had taken him away from me long before that final end. I am still thankful for those difficult five years.
